Willowbrook Cancer Victims
In September 2018, Willowbrook-based company Sterigenics International was discovered to be releasing high levels of toxic gas, harming public health. The gas, ethylene oxide, can cause cancer and other diseases by damaging DNA. Lymphoma and leukemia are the cancers most often reported from this exposure.
Residents of Willowbrook, along with Sterigenics employees, have a high risk of developing cancer from this exposure.
